Gil Sperling, Senior Policy Advisory, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy
Gil Sperling currently serves as Senior Policy Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy. Prior to that, he served as the Program Manager for the Office of Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program (OWIP) at DOE, with a budget in excess of $11.6 Billion. At DOE, Gil has been charged with transforming legacy programs into current, market responsive efforts that support large scale energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Through his national public outreach, Gil facilitates the grantees’ successful implementation of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act initiatives. Specifically, the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has been tasked by President Obama to administer $16.8 Billion in funding including $5 Billion for Weatherization Programs, $3.1 B for State Energy Programs, and $3.2B for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Programs. Mr. Sperling served in private practice for more than twenty years before joining DOE, providing regulatory, corporate, and finance related services for companies developing power and related energy projects in the U.S. and overseas. While in private practice, he served for eighteen years as General Counsel to the Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition and as Senior Energy Policy Advisor for INFORM, Inc. In the mid 1980s, Gil served as Senior Counsel to the House Subcommittee on Energy Conservation and Power, chaired by Congressman Edward J. Markey, and to the Subcommittee on Transportation and Hazardous Materials, chaired by Congressman Tom Luken, both were Subcommittees of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Peter Roehrig, Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, U.S. Department of Energy
Peter Roehrig (Rear-eeg) is Special Assistant at the Department of Energy for Assistant Secretary Cathy Zoi in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Mr. Roehrig is currently focused on Recovery Act implementation and outreach and the Department of Energy’s participation in the Clean Energy Road Show, a 50-city clean energy tour in communities across the country. The Roadshow will travel the country to promote various state-based strategies in support of building retrofits and energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. The Roadshow seeks to create sustained clean energy markets by catalyzing job creation and economic development through local, state and regional stakeholder collaboration. Before this, Peter traveled to over 30 states to work with state energy and Governor’s offices to help accelerate production and performance of the Recovery Act’s clean energy portfolio. Before joining the Obama Administration, Peter helped start US Renewable Energy Group, which has recently made the largest ever U.S.-China joint investment in American renewable energy to date. Peter was field organizer during the 2008 campaign for President Barack Obama, during which time he helped recruit and train over 500 volunteers. Before that, Peter helped manage the marketing and business development operations of Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates. Peter began his career out of college as an entrepreneur, having started Business Financial Publishing, an online investment publishing business focused on the energy marketplace. Peter has a long standing passion for and commitment to clean energy and climate change policy.
